New Song….New Album….
Hello friends. Just wanted to drop a line and let you know that there is a new We Were Pirates track called Better Off Without You hurtling through internet abyss. I figured you should probably know about it just in case it accidentally slams into your computer like a falling meteorite crushing everything in its path. Hope you enjoy.
Also, the track is off the new album which will officially be out January of 2012. It features Kate Rears Burgman, Mike Epstein, and the Gabriel Fry. Also TW Walsh (Sufjan Stevens, David Bazan, Ra Ra Riot) mastered it.
The Three Of Us
Hello friends. Just wanted to give you a heads up that This American Life is replaying The Break Up episode this week which is where our version of “The Three Of Us” originated from. TAL contributor Starlee Kine’s brain-mind. She, a non-musician, set out to write a pop song about a break up with a little help from Joe McGinty and Julia Greenberg…..and Phil Collins. Yes, and Phil Collins. Anyway, they (minus Phil) wrote a song and then had a remix/cover contest, which I entered. It was judged by the songwriters and Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis from Sound Opinions. You can see the contest results here.
It is a great episode. If you haven’t had a chance to hear it on your local NPR affiliate, you can download the podcast here for this week only. Also support them with monetary generosity.
